Oatmeal is a blank slate. It’s a perfect way to “healthify” your favorite desserts. There are endless toppings, mix-ins, and flavorings that make it a new experience each and every time.

I am obsessed with oatmeal!

I’ve already shared my Banana Foster Oatmeal recipe, which is a definite winner in my book, and now I’ll share the Apple-pie oatmeal recipe that give me the warm flavors of “Fall” in a perfect little bowl 🙂

The boyfriend is a breakfast fanatic. He also has quite the sweet tooth. Now I can see why breakfast is his much preferred meal of the day. A perfect way to consider dessert a main course and get away with it. 🙂

Breakfast=Excuse to have sweets in the morning

As he was out for his run (he has just begun training for a 5K), I decided to whip up something I knew he’d absolutely adore as a Sunday morning treat. Knowing he was already a “lover of all things slathered in maple syrup”, I decided to go that tried and true route. But maple syrup on what?

Maple Syrup=No Fail

I’ve made him countless pancake recipes, so I didn’t want to make pancakes today, was looking for a little something different. Although I know he’d be completely elated to see a towering stack of these!

Then there’s the always a hit Cinnamon-Sugar Donut Muffins, but then I’d, undoubtedly, end up eating them all up before he returned from his 30 minute run (Not a good idea for my attempts to stay below 300 lbs). Seriously, I am weak when it comes to these muffins. I wanted to make something I wouldn’t be tempted to scarf down before he was back!

So, french toast would be the perfect idea, and we already had Pepperidge Farm Swirl Brown Sugar Cinnamon bread in the fridge. He also conveniently threw 2 boxes of Cap’n Crunch Peanut Butter Crunch cereal in the shopping cart at the grocery store because it was “buy 1 get 1 free, such a great deal” and “couldn’t pass it up.” Sure bob.

And this was when “Cap’n Crunch Peanut Butter French Toast” was born.

My favorite meal to experiment with, besides dessert, is breakfast.  There are so many different ways to flavor oatmeal, such an array of pancake recipes, and tons of ways to cook up eggs.  Yesterday I was inspired to make “Breakfast Quesadillas” as a Sunday surprise for my boyfriend.

Bananas Foster Oatmeal: Breakfast or Dessert???

Breakfast has recently become my favorite meal of the day. It’s so versatile, you can whip up a savory egg dish, a decadent pastry, or even one of a multitude of oatmeal creations! Since I tend to have a sweet tooth, I love that I can get away with having dessert for breakfast and not feel guilty about it (you know, as opposed to a slice of cheesecake for lunch! Haha).

Your breakfast cereal can make or break you.

The aisle is endless.  The sugary, chocolatey ones are calling your name.

I mean, can it get any more difficult to select a cereal!!!

Well, I’ve tried out several different cereals, looked at their nutritional information in my “The Calorie King: Calorie, Fat, and Carbohydrate Counter” and have made a few cereals a staple in my pantry.

Everyone says how breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so treat it as such.

Pick something that will fill you with energy and give you the feeling of satisfaction after eating it.

Now, let’s get something straight, I like to eat and I do wake up ready for a yummy breakfast.

I don’t like to feel hungry.

So, because of this, I’d rather have an entire cup of cereal that’s healthy, rather than 1/2 a cup of not-so-good cereal because of the high fat, sugar, and caloric content.  If you’re like me, and want finish your breakfast feeling satisfied, keep reading my list of cereals that give you the most bang for your buck.  Ok, I don’t mean it in a financial way…cereal is freakin’ expensive! I mean, the most nutritional value, the most quantity, and the best flavor possible.

Wowsers!  These are dangerous.

Basically, a baked mini-muffin, dunked in butter, then rolled in cinnamon-sugar.

How could it not be a winning recipe?

These are extremely simple, use very common ingredients that most of us have at home already, and are absolutely mouth-watering!
